Catch of the Day: Wandering Elk
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
8/26/23
We were in Yellowstone National Park hoping, like everyone else, to see some large native wildlife. The elk were particularly obliging as they enjoyed wandering around our campground at Bridge Bay. They appeared oblivious, or at least indifferent, to the human presence, casually making their way around trailers and tents, restrooms and picnic tables to find the most splendid grass to munch. One could be lulled into thinking that they are friendly and tame which they are not. They likely feel protected in these small human settlements from the nearby wolves and grizzly bears who like to eat them.
